Who invented ice cream?
Ice cream has a long history that spans across different cultures and regions. Its origins can be traced back to ancient China, where a mixture of rice and milk was frozen in snow to create a dessert. However, the modern version of ice cream that we know today is credited to the Italian chef Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli. In the late 17th century, Procopio opened a café in Paris and introduced gelato, which was made by freezing a mixture of milk, cream, sugar, and flavorings. He is often referred to as the “father of modern gelato,” and his recipe laid the foundation for the evolution of ice cream as we know it today. Over time, ice cream has become a beloved dessert enjoyed by people all over the world, with countless variations and flavors to suit everyone’s taste.
